ATTENTION! WATER IS LIFE!!!

Our route passes along open mountain ridges under the scorching tropical sun. Shade on the trail is extremely rare. It is a strict and mandatory condition of participation that every guest brings a container (thermos or reusable bottle) with at least 1–1.5 liters of drinking water. Without an adequate water supply, starting the route is physically impossible and extremely dangerous. The rule is simple: if you don’t bring water, you stay to guard the car at the foot of the mountain. Your safety in the mountains is always my top priority.

Tour Theme

I invite you to leave the concrete jungle behind and challenge the ancient stratovolcano, Mt. Batulao. Located on the border of Batangas and Cavite provinces, this mountain is the perfect training ground for authentic hiking. Having begun its formation over three million years ago, today it presents a complex and insanely beautiful landscape. This is not a light stroll on paved paths, but a full-scale mountain trek. It is a test of endurance, the steady click of trekking poles, and the incomparable feeling of victory as you take that final step toward the summit.

Tour Details

Despite its rugged volcanic past, Mt. Batulao is considered an excellent option for both experienced hikers and determined beginners. Over millions of years, erosion has created picturesque rocky ribs and deep ravines on its slopes. As we progress, the terrain will change, leading us higher along open ridges. I will lead you at a pace comfortable for the group, ensuring we can soak in the raw beauty of the Philippine highlands.

What Awaits You:

  • Dynamic Mountain Trekking: We begin at the base where pine groves quickly give way to open spaces. We will follow narrow earthen trails that sharply ascend and descend between peaks. This “sawtooth” relief provides a great workout and keeps the climb interesting and varied.

  • Geology Beneath Your Feet: Batulao is a dissected andesitic stratovolcano part of the same geological system as the famous Taal. During breaks, I will explain how tectonic plates shaped this jagged landscape. You will literally feel the power of the ancient earth beneath your boots as we navigate unique rock formations.

  • The Final Ascent & Summit: The last few meters before the peak are the steepest and most exhilarating. Once at the top, you’ll reach a high-altitude camp where natural magic happens: you can practically touch the passing clouds. As the mist swirls around your feet and your heart rate settles, you’ll experience total harmony and absolute delight.

  • The Winner’s Panorama: The view from the top is worth every drop of sweat. The vast Taal Caldera spreads out below like a map. To the west, you’ll see the endless blue of the South China Sea. We will linger at the summit for a well-deserved break, epic photos, and the sound of the wind at heights reached only by the most determined.

Who Will Love This (and Who Might Not):

Perfect for:

  • Hiking & Physical Fitness Lovers: The trail provides an excellent cardio workout and will make your muscles burn.

  • Ambitious Beginners: Technically, the route doesn’t require climbing gear—just persistence and strong legs.

  • Rugged Landscape Appreciators: The views from Batulao’s open ridges are considered some of the best in the Calabarzon region.

Might not suit:

  • Those with Joint, Heart, or Respiratory Issues: Constant steep descents and ascents place significant strain on the body.

  • Casual Walkers: This is a wild mountain trail, not a park zone.

  • Sun-Sensitive Travelers: Protection from direct rays must be handled entirely through clothing and sunscreen.

I recently went on the Mt. Batulao hike with a Russian-speaking guide and was absolutely delighted! The tour was perfectly organized: we were picked up early in the morning and driven to the starting point. Our guide, Eugene, not only speaks excellent Russian but also knows every single trail and shares fascinating facts about the area.

The trekking itself is quite dynamic, but even beginners can handle it—the key is to go at your own pace. The views from the summit are simply breathtaking: rice fields, the ocean in the distance, greenery everywhere… The photos turned out amazing!

After the descent, we stopped by a small waterfall—a pleasant conclusion to an active day. I highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants to see the real Philippines without the crowds of tourists!

Thank you for a great adventure! I will definitely be back to climb other peaks.
