Expedition to Banaue Rice Terraces and Tappiya Falls

This trip is a unique opportunity to dive deep into the culture and incredible nature of the Philippine Cordilleras. The majestic green steps, rightfully called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” were hand-carved into the mountains several millennia ago and are still used by farmers today. I invite you not just to look at beautiful postcard landscapes, but to truly experience the life of the region’s indigenous people. We will walk along endless slopes, listen to the roar of hidden rivers, and breathe in the pure mountain air, enjoying every moment of this three-day adventure.

Our expedition begins with a long but very scenic drive from Manila to Northern Luzon. Arriving in the mountains, we will leave the noise of civilization behind and completely dissolve into the cultural heritage of the region. We will embark on treks along narrow paths between water-filled fields, learn about ancient farming methods, and descend to powerful waterfalls. This journey requires a certain level of physical endurance, but in return, it offers stunning views and mountain energy that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

• Banaue Rice Terraces: These will appear before us in all their grandeur directly from the viewpoint. Endless green fields are skillfully laid out on the steep slopes of the valley, forming a giant natural amphitheater. I will tell you how, over two thousand years ago, the Ifugao people created this complex irrigation system without the use of any modern tools. We will take a walking tour along the narrow edges of the fields to see the daily hard work of the locals up close.

• Tappiya Falls: This will be our reward after an intensive trek through the slopes. The path to this natural treasure lies across picturesque mountain steps and is hidden in a deep gorge surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. A powerful stream of water crashes into a spacious cool basin, creating an incredible atmosphere of detachment from reality. We will definitely make a long stop here to swim in the pure, invigorating water and completely wash away any fatigue.

• Cultural Immersion & Local Cuisine: These will logically complement our visual impressions. After long walks in the mountains and swimming, we will arrange a well-deserved rest in a local restaurant. You will have a great chance to try traditional Ifugao dishes and appreciate the features of authentic Philippine mountain cuisine. Over a leisurely lunch, we can discuss our emotions and gain an even deeper understanding of the local farmers’ way of life.
